Petra Morenzi

.

Figure with Orbs, 2008, bronze, 105 x 18 x 88 cm

In her work, Petra Morenzi (1954, Heilbronn) challenges us to believe what we are seeing. Her sculptural and drawing work is based entirely around ‘standard’ human figures that are far from being ‘normal’, to be in their presence is to feel that you came in at a point of mid-adoption, as if the figures have been given the task of managing and contemplating the physical forms they find themselves in.

Morenzi studied at the Rietveldacademie and at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. She
has exhibited her work at AKINCI, Amsterdam (2009), Art Rotterdam (2009), Arco Madrid (2008). Morenzi’s work is to be found in various collections, including Caldic Collection, Wassenaar, Teylers Museum, Haarlem, Sammlung der Deutschen Bank Frankfurt, ABN Amro Collection and  Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
