Hadassah Emmerich’s
(Heerlen, 1974) work shows a rich variety of texture and drawing. Her
work contains abstract and figurative elements, revealing a range of
possibilities between doodle and grand-scale gesture. Occasionally texts
appear, which enhance the mystery around oriental-looking figures drawn
in diverse materials: airbrush, ink, acrylic and charcoal. Fragmented
elements come together in all-embracing exotic patterns, lines and
colours. It is a mixing and remixing of western and eastern images or
(child) memories.
